Lonely Passenger

Summer 2012 Collection

view collection

As the title, Lonely Passenger suggests, concepts of travel, independence and individuality, provides the starting point of ideas and nuances, for this collection.

Discovery and new beginnings in a different country, influences the visual frame of reference, as for example, the long length Pioneer Skirt, paired with the Endeavour Jacket (with feature buttons that provides a nod to Captain Cook). Ideas evolve and are thematically worked throughout the range. The wide lapel, double breasted button motif is incorporated into the Lonely Passenger Jacket and then taken through to several dresses including the Seashore Request and Pioneer styles; and the Lonely Passenger Waistcoat is reworked into an easy, button through dress. Clothing lines are soft- a move away from the sharper, structured silhouettes of previous years.

This collection encompasses a broad range of moods from the formal, dressed-up Floral Fortune Dress, with its fitted bodice and full skirt, to the slouchy, relaxed T-Shirt-like Why Not Wonder Dress, with its placket detail and loosely belted waist. Hemlines vary from the maxi to a polite knee length. The international fashion trend for brightly coloured lace is assimilated into the bold, simply shaped Charmed Daisy Top and Shift Dress. Light cottons and silks are the predominant natural fibers and linen returns to the fabric repertoire.

State of Grace’s Lonely Passenger collection pursues new directions and fresh opportunities to reinterpret the summer wardrobe.
